After the redesign of the Slovenia Times in 2009 the front page gained on its importance. It sort of keeps alive my old passion for visual expression and image manipulations. Too bad there’s always so little time available for these creations.

Here’s my personal best of front page creations in the years 2009/10. Mostly Photoshop compositions and some 3D.

It happened last year on our two-day canoe trip on Kolpa river … This decadent mosquito couple landed on my baseball cap and didn’t mind photographing them for as long I needed. So here there are Mr and Ms mosquito in their most intimate moments. I decided to publish this picture for the progress of natural science, insect sexology, to be exact…

What good is a thin compact camera today if you cant telephone with it? For the past few years I’m pretty much convinced there is none. Except for Olympus u790 SW, an average compact camera easily compared to any other in its range, but has one glorious advantage: it is waterproof. Finally I came to an opportunity to borrow one of these for a test for the day I intended to visit a nearby Spa.

Here’s a self portrait of me hitting the water. Jumping into pools is actually forbidden, so I really took risks for this shot

I know that for the people who take photography seriously this means nothing extraordinary, but allow me, a person who makes photos mostly for fun, to be excited for the series of shots I made.

Easter Comes Early / Christmas comes late

Easter normally stands for excessive eating, family visiting, eggs, TV full of Biblical films and holy ceremonies. There is no Santa or gifts. Symbolically it represents the finale of a series of anniversaries of more or less morbid events such as nailing on a man on a large wooden cross, which he previously had to carry. For those who don’t take a torture device as a symbol of their belief, it’s just a day off and a wonderful opportunity to consume some essential cholesterol.

Eggs are being painted… We at YSKT decided to tackle the issue the natural way, which didn’t work out exactly as imagined using the onion and red beet. So a bit of artificial coloring was called to help. Natural coloring therefore remains a challenge for the next (perhaps orthodox) easter. Imprinting the leaves instead of stickers was fine. Here’s the result:

This Easter we also got blessed with some genuine Christmas scenery, it just snowed and snowed, although the snow kept melting as it hit the ground.

P.S. Thanks to the Pope for the Easter gifts – the new deadly sins. For most of us it is much easier not to genetically experiment on humans than to resist the temptation of the neighbor’s wife.

…which died along with the server called Smrekca. Because of a firm belief in Smrekca’s immortality, this particular photoblog was never properly backed up. The script was gone, the comments were gone, some pictures were left. Here’s the first part..

What we got here’s a playful couple of kids at Sarajevo’s Baščaršija, born after the Bosnian war…

Afrikakorps at Ljubljana’s Marathon. The leading group of athletes passing my apartment building. A few hours later, I could enjoy the Burundese anthem playing at Republic square, what is a rare interesting occasion.

Bijelo Dugme

Čez neka dni bodo v Ljubljani nastopili neuradni Bijelo Dugme. Njihov korporativni logo se je nedvomno vtisnil v spomin generacije, ki počasi začenja siveti.
Tole je povsem naključna kompozicija nastala v koritu kuhinje na zabavi ob praznovanju rojstnega dneva, ko so se štirje kozarci za šnops znašli v skledi, ki je nedavno držala francosko solato. Ker ne verjamemo v naključja velja omeniti, da je dotični gostitelj in slavljenec precejšnji ljubitelj Bijelog Dugma.
